Do I need a visa to visit Slovenia?+
Slovenia is part of the Schengen Area. EU, US, UK, Canadian, and Australian citizens can enter visa-free for up to 90 days. Citizens of other countries may need a Schengen visa.
How many days do I need in Slovenia?+
A minimum of 4-5 days for the main highlights: Ljubljana (1 day), Lake Bled and Bohinj (1-2 days), Postojna and Škocjan Caves (1 day), coastal Piran (1 day). For a full trip including hiking and the Soča Valley, plan 7-10 days.
What budget should I plan for Slovenia?+
Slovenia is cheaper than Austria and Italy but pricier than Croatia and the Balkans. Average budget: €80-120 per day per person (accommodation, food, transport, attractions). Restaurant lunch: €10-15, cappuccino: €2-3, Postojna Cave entry: €28.
What is the best way to get around Slovenia?+
Renting a car is the best option. The country is small – everything is within a 2-3 hour drive. Roads are excellent, but you need a vignette (€15/week) for motorways. Buses and trains work too, but schedules are limited outside major cities.
