Tivat

A compact coastal airport by the Bay of Kotor: terminal layout, services and seasonal notes.

Tivat Airport is the closest gateway to the Budva Riviera and the Bay of Kotor. The terminal is small and easy to navigate: arrivals and departures are adjacent, with quick access to parking and meeting points. Expect longer queues in peak season; allow extra time for passport control and baggage.

On site you’ll find ATMs, car-rental desks, transfer and taxi pickup areas. Mobile connectivity is easiest via pre-purchased eSIM; occasional local SIM counters may operate seasonally. Basic amenities–cafés, restrooms, and areas for strollers/sports gear–are within a short walk.

Frequently asked questions

How to get from Tivat Airport to the city center?

The fastest way is a taxi or a pre-booked transfer (5–10 minutes off-season; longer in summer). You can also rent a car directly at TIV. Typical times: Kotor 15–25 min, Budva 30–45 min (longer in peak season).

Do buses run from TIV to the center, and where is the stop?

No direct bus from the terminal. Buses go to the Tivat bus station (about 15–25 minutes on foot from the airport). From there you can take a city or intercity bus.

How do I book a transfer in advance and where will the driver meet me?

Book online; the driver waits in the arrivals hall with a sign (your name/booking), helps with luggage, and escorts you to the car. The price is fixed at booking.

Can I pick up a car at TIV and drop it off in Budva/Kotor/Podgorica?

Yes, many rental companies offer one-way rentals. Specify the drop-off city when booking; a one-way fee may apply.

Do Uber/Bolt work, or only local taxis?

Uber/Bolt aren’t available in Montenegro. Local taxi services and private transfers operate; it’s best to agree the fare in advance or book online.

Is there free Wi-Fi at the airport?

Yes, free Wi-Fi is available in the terminal.

Where can I buy a SIM/eSIM and when will it work?

The easiest option is eSIM: activate it in advance and mobile data will work immediately after landing. Physical SIMs are usually bought in town (and sometimes at kiosks/desks near the terminal exit). Compare plans and choose the eSIM that suits you.

Where can I check live arrivals/departures for Tivat Airport?

On the official Montenegro Airports website (Tivat Airport – Arrivals/Departures).
