Leaving your car at Porto Montenegro costs €0.70–2.50 an hour – not the €3–5 you'll read in tourist forums. Municipal street zones in Tivat charge €0.70–1.00/hr in 2026, the Arsenal lot nearest the marina runs €1.50–2.00/hr, and Porto Montenegro's own multi-level garages start at €2.00/hr. There is a gap between April and August, but a small one – €0.10–0.20 per hour.

Municipal parking
Street zones: red and yellow
Street parking in Tivat is split into two tariff zones. The red (Crvena) zone is the busiest, right by the waterfront and the marina entrance: €1.00/hr in summer, €0.80/hr in winter, with a day card of €10 in summer and €8 in winter. The yellow (Žuta) zone sits a bit further from the water and costs less: €0.80/hr in summer, €0.70/hr in winter, day card €8 and €7.
Parking isn't charged around the clock. The tariff runs 07:00–23:00 in summer and 08:00–21:00 in winter. On Sundays and public holidays the street zones are free – a legitimate way to save if you're in town over a weekend.

April vs August: where prices jump
The big myth is that marina parking multiplies in summer. Per the official 2026 price list the jump is modest: the red zone rises from €0.80 to €1.00 an hour (+€0.20, about 25%), the yellow from €0.70 to €0.80 (+€0.10, about 14%). Over a full day that's a couple of euros, not the huge sums quoted on tourist forums.

What really gets harder in August isn't the tariff but finding a spot at all: with the marina packed, aiming straight for a barrier-gate lot or free Seljanovo makes more sense.
Barrier-gate lots
Closest to the marina: Arsenal and the garages
For a spot right beside the marina and a longer stay, there are two options. The Arsenal lot on Arsenalska street is the nearest municipal one – around 180 spaces, roughly a 2-minute walk to Porto Montenegro: €2.00/hr in summer, €1.50/hr in winter. The marina's own multi-level garages (under the Regent and Tara buildings) start at €2.00/hr, and travel guides put the ceiling around €2.50/hr; you pay by the "ticket in, machine before exit" system. Porto Montenegro's own garages cost from €2.00 an hour – treat that as a guide, not a fixed tariff.
There's also a municipal lot by the Music School (Muzička škola) – €0.80/hr in summer, €0.70/hr in winter (day card €8 and €7): cheaper than the garages, a slightly longer walk.
Free alternatives
Where to park free nearby
There's almost no genuinely free parking in central Tivat – nearly everything sits in paid zones, with plenty of "parkiranje zabranjeno" (no parking) signs. Free spots are out in the more distant residential blocks.
The one that works is the Seljanovo district: rows of untariffed spaces outside the SMS zones, about a 10-minute walk to the marina. There's one catch, and it's a real one: locals and yacht crews take them by 09:00. Arrive later and plan on a paid lot. There's also Ponta Seljanovo with free roadside spots and a small area by the beach, but places there are few.
Street zones in Tivat are paid by SMS to a short number: you text your plate, one message = one hour. It works from a local SIM (M-tel, One or Telekom Crne Gore). You cannot pay a street zone with a foreign card or app – it's the trap visitors fall into. The zone code is printed on the sign itself.
If you have no local SIM, aim for a barrier-gate lot (Arsenal, the marina garages) – those take cash or a payment machine, no SIM needed.

Flying into Tivat? Airport parking
If you're picking someone up at Tivat Airport, the first 15 minutes for drop-off are free. After that the rate varies by source: €1–2/hr, €12–15 per day. Local media reported drivers being charged anywhere from €2 to €30 at the exit, so don't leave the car parked long without a ticket.
