What's here

What is this place

Porto Montenegro is a modern marina-and-residential waterfront in Tivat, Bay of Kotor, created on the grounds of the former naval “Arsenal” shipyard. It’s a nautical village with superyacht berths, hotels, a Naval Heritage museum and a public promenade.

Key features

  • About 450 berths, accepting yachts up to 250 m – a full port of entry with customs and immigration for long-range cruising.
  • Activity hub: Yacht Club with J/70 regattas and the Synchro stage hosting summer fashion shows and jazz festivals.
  • Naval Heritage Collection with submarines P-821 “Heroj” and P-912, preserving the site’s shipyard past.
  • On-site hotels: Regent Porto Montenegro (2014) and wellness-driven SIRO Boka Place (2025).
  • Easy access: Tivat Airport roughly 4 km away – year-round operation.

What to see

  • The waterfront promenade with piers, residential blocks, boutiques and public squares.
  • The Naval Heritage Collection and the interior of submarine Heroj.
  • The Synchro Yards area with the club pool and event venues.

History

The “Arsenal” naval yard and base, active since the late 19th century, declined after the breakup of Yugoslavia. In 2006–2007, regeneration began to turn it into a marina village, with first berths and promenades opening in the late 2000s.

In 2016, the Investment Corporation of Dubai (ICD) acquired the project, accelerating new phases – the Synchro cultural hub and the Boka Place urban district. Regent hotel opened in 2014, and in 2025 SIRO launched in Boka Place, reinforcing Porto Montenegro’s all-season profile.

Practical information

Location: Tivat waterfront, western shore of the Bay of Kotor.

Getting there: taxi or car from Tivat Airport (~4 km, 10–15 min); intercity buses to Tivat, then 10–20 min on foot.
