Fabrika Tbilisi

ფაბრიკა თბილისი

A former Soviet sewing factory turned into Tbilisi's main creative hub since 2016

Fabrika is a multifunctional cultural centre in the historic Chugureti district of Tbilisi, at 8 Egnate Ninoshvili Street. The building is a former Soviet sewing factory called "Nino" that produced women's clothing. In 2016, architectural studio Multiverse Architecture and Adjara Group transformed the abandoned industrial building into a new kind of urban space.

Fabrika is 600 m from Marjanishvili metro station and 1.8 km from Rustaveli Avenue. Walking to Old Tbilisi takes 20–25 minutes along the riverbank, or one metro stop, or 3–5 GEL by Bolt.

Entry to the grounds is free, 24/7. The format is an open-plan space: a courtyard with bars and cafés, art studios, local designer shops, a coworking space, a 354-bed hostel, and event venues. Suitable for a daytime visit (coffee, lunch, shopping), an evening out (bars, events), or an overnight stay.

About

What's Here

The centrepiece of Fabrika is a large open courtyard surrounded by the factory's original walls. The concrete surfaces are preserved as-is: paint drips, textured brickwork, industrial elements. Layered on top are vivid murals by street artists. The street-facing façade features graffiti by local and international artists. Inside the courtyard, about a dozen venues operate: PIPES burger bar, Georgian cuisine at Tone, cocktail bar Moulin Electrique (one of Tbilisi's longest-running bars), Japanese food, and coffee.

On the ground floor of the main building, the spacious hostel lobby has tall arched windows, comfortable sofas, and pinball machines. Nearby is the Impact Hub coworking space (day pass 40 GEL / ~$15). Down the corridors: designer workshops – Shavikata atelier (avant-garde clothing), Flying Painter vintage store (clothes salvaged from the original "Nino" factory), Vodkast vinyl record shop, Camora barbershop, Tsibakha board game club (150+ games), and Magnolia Film Lab (analogue photography).

On the roof – a terrace with neighbourhood views, used for open-air cinema screenings, yoga sessions, and BBQ parties. Events run regularly: exhibitions, markets, concerts, talks. Check Fabrika's Instagram and Facebook for the schedule.

History

Past & Present

The building at 8 Ninoshvili Street was built during the Soviet era as the "Nino" sewing factory. It produced women's clothing and was one of the largest industrial operations in the Chugureti district. After the Soviet Union dissolved in 1991, production stopped and the building sat abandoned for 25 years – a typical fate for Georgia's industrial sites of that period.

In 2016, architectural studio Multiverse Architecture (founders Gogiko Sakvarelidze and Devi Kituashvili) and Adjara Group renovated the building, keeping the concrete walls, Soviet-era half-painted surfaces, and original linoleum floors. Fabrika quickly became a magnet for travellers and locals: the "everything under one roof" concept – accommodation, food, work, entertainment – hit the mark for Tbilisi. Today Fabrika is seen as a symbol of urban regeneration and one of the most recognised hostels in the region.
