History
Al Khor grew as a fishing harbor; the shoreline long served as a market and a communal open space. The modern corniche took shape in late 20th–early 21st century.
The key phase was Ashghal’s 2017–2018 upgrade: three corniche zones (~28,000 m²) were renovated, 22,500 m² of granite/interlock paving installed, plus new playgrounds, landscaping and benches. The first zones opened in May 2018.
