The Zentrum Paul Klee in Bern is more than a museum – it’s a full immersion into the life and work of one of the 20th century’s most influential artists. Home to the world’s largest collection of Klee’s works (over 4,000 pieces), the center is housed in a wave-like architectural masterpiece designed by Renzo Piano. Inside, visitors find rotating exhibitions, concerts, lectures, and creative programs that bring Klee’s visionary legacy to life.

History
A major donation in 1997 by Livia Klee-Meyer prompted the project; in 1998 the Schöngrün site was chosen and Renzo Piano Building Workshop commissioned, with a preliminary scheme in 2000.
The building opened on 20 June 2005, funded by the city, canton and private patrons, establishing a new cultural hub for Bern. Since then the core display has rotated for conservation.
In 2021 the paul&ich community garden was added, and by 2025 the Centre marks its 20th anniversary with celebratory programming.
