Frequently Asked Questions About Tours and Excursions
Everything about booking, cancellation, and participating in tours
How do I book a tour?+
Pick a tour in the tours and prices table, choose the date and number of travellers and book it on Viator. You receive a confirmation and a mobile ticket by email right away.
How do I pay for a tour?+
By card on Viator when you book. Many tours also offer "Reserve now, pay later": you lock in your spot and are charged closer to the date. The total price is shown before you confirm — there is nothing to pay the guide on the day unless the tour page says otherwise.
Can I cancel a tour?+
Most tours on Viator can be cancelled for a full refund up to 24 hours before the start time. The exact policy is shown on each tour page before you book.
Where is the meeting point?+
It is listed on your ticket and on the tour page; some tours include hotel pickup instead. You can also message the operator through Viator if anything is unclear.
Do I need to print my booking?+
No. Showing the mobile ticket on your phone is enough.
What if I am late or cannot make it?+
Contact the operator as soon as possible — their details are on your ticket. If you do not show up and have not cancelled in time, the payment is usually non-refundable.
Is the tour guaranteed to run?+
Most tours are confirmed instantly. Some need a minimum number of travellers or depend on the weather (boat trips, mountain routes); if a tour is cancelled by the operator, you are offered another date or a full refund.
What should I bring?+
Weather-appropriate clothes, comfortable shoes, water and sunscreen in summer. Bring your passport on tours that cross a border, and some cash for entrance fees not included in the price.
When is the best time to book tours in Qatar?+
It’s best to book in advance, especially during the high season (November to March), when demand is high and spots on popular tours sell out quickly.
What should I wear on excursions?+
Modest clothing is recommended in Qatar, especially when visiting cultural sites. Lightweight, covered clothing, a sun hat, and comfortable shoes are ideal. In the evenings and during winter months, it can get chilly – bring a light jacket just in case.
Is it possible to go to the desert in summer?+
From May to September, desert temperatures can exceed 45°C. Many tours are canceled during this period or offered only early in the morning or late in the evening. Always check the latest schedule and weather conditions.
Are tours suitable for children?+
Yes, but not all of them. For example, dune bashing may not be recommended for children under 4–6 years old. Check the age restrictions on the booking page.
What are the most popular tours in Qatar?+
Desert safaris, dune bashing by 4x4, dhow cruises in Doha at sunset, cultural walks through Souq Waqif and local museums, as well as day trips to Al Zubarah and Lusail.
