Dariali Monastery (Archangels Michael and Gabriel Complex) is an active Georgian Orthodox monastery at 1,300 m elevation, 10 km north of Stepantsminda and 1 km from the Russia–Georgia border crossing (Kazbegi–Larsi). Construction began in 2005 under the initiative of Catholicos-Patriarch Ilia II. The main church was consecrated in 2011.
Despite its young age, the complex looks medieval: architects used hewn pinkish-grey stone and modelled it after the 11th-century Nikortsminda church. The monks participated in building and decorating – mosaics, metalwork, and stone carving are all handmade.
Reachable by taxi from Stepantsminda in 15 minutes. Entry is free, the monastery is open daily. Allow 30–40 minutes for a visit.
