Description
What this place is
Žukotrlica is the main and most visited beach strip in Šušanj, Bar’s suburb. This long pebble beach runs along the Šušanj promenade near Red Beach; sources give a length of ~1–2 km.
Key features
- Medium pebbles – gentle entry and usually manageable surf.
- Pine belt and Mediterranean scrub behind the beach – natural shade and resinous scent.
- A seaside promenade links Šušanj with Bar’s center – great for walks and runs.
- Name reflects an old craft: Spanish broom (žukva) was soaked and “rubbed” (trliti) here to soften fibers.
- Seasonal facilities – sunbed/umbrella rentals, bars, toilets; several car parks nearby.
What to see
- A long pebble arc with views over Bar Riviera and Mount Rumija.
- Shaded patches under the pines along the walkway.
- Nearby strands – Red Beach and Bar’s town beaches reachable via the promenade.
