What is this place
Piz Nair is a panoramic summit above St. Moritz in the Albula Alps. From Corviglia an aerial cableway ascends to the upper station just below the peak; a short signed path leads to the summit cross.

History
Access was established in the early 20th century: the funicular’s lower section to Chantarella opened in 1913, the extension to Corviglia in 1928. The Piz Nair cableway has been operating since the mid-20th century; the current installation dates from 2002.
The Corviglia/Piz Nair slopes have hosted major events – the 1948 Winter Olympics and the World Championships in 1934, 1974, 2003 and 2017. Today Piz Nair is a St. Moritz signature with seasonal sunrise rides.
Practical information
Location: Above St. Moritz, Graubünden; access via Corviglia, upper station just below the summit.
Getting there: From St. Moritz Dorf take the funicular to Corviglia (via Chantarella) and transfer to the Corviglia–Piz Nair cableway; from St. Moritz-Bad the Signal cable car leads towards Corviglia with a connection to the summit line.
Access: Funicular and cable car are step-free; terraces are accessible, the short summit path is rocky.
Visiting hours: Summer and winter operating seasons; spring/autumn maintenance breaks. Winter runs typically from late November to early April.
Visit duration: 1.5–3 hours for the ascent and viewpoints; up to half a day with ridge walks.
Best time: Clear mornings; Aug–Sep “Piz Nair Sunrise” dates (advance booking required).
Notes: Altitude >3,000 m – bring warm layers and sun protection. Operations depend on weather/season; check funicular and cable car status the day before.
